How to stop feeling powerless
I used to feel like a tiny boat lost at sea, completely at the mercy of the waves. Life just happened to me, I thought, and I had no control over the direction I was heading. It was a horrible feeling, this constant sense of powerlessness. But I learned, slowly but surely, that it doesn’t have to be that way. The first thing I realized was that acknowledging the feeling is crucial.
Don't bottle it up. Say it out loud: "I feel powerless right now." It sounds simple, but it validates your experience. Then, try to pinpoint what exactly is making you feel this way. Recognizing that you need assistance is a sign of strength, not weakness. Finally, be patient with yourself. Overcoming feelings of powerlessness takes time and effort. There will be setbacks along the way.
